Top Ten Best Apps Tweaks on Cydia

1.OpenNotifier
We're all kinda aware the iPhone's notification system sucks. One popup comes in, overrides another. Close an SMS, it's read; close a push notification, it's not. No single unified place on your phone to see which apps are begging for your attention. And all that space in the little tiny bar at the top of your screen. On iOS 1, 2, and 3, we had a little nifty extension called StatusNotifier. It put icons in your status bar when one of your apps had something new going on; an IM, an email, a text message. It was a great way to know ipexactky what you might have been forgetting about on your phone.

But then 4.0 came. Not only were status bar icons completely broken due to massive senseless changes to the status bar, but the developer was nowhere in sight, much like the source code. A few developers have begun work on tweaks to provide notification systems to the iPhone, and many of them are quite good! (If you don't have LockInfo, you really should check it out.) But what many seem to lack is the simple ability to go out onto the web, pull down an icon, and set it to any app you want.

It's about time a proper, free, and OPEN status bar notifier hit the iPhone, and this is OpenNotifier. It is a joint project headed by me, with icon design by CallMeCodeName and preference bundle assistance from Dan Zimmerman. You will be able to download and install icons from Cydia like themes, and apply them to any app or event available in the settings. It will eventually do repeat notifications as well (with your support of course!)

In addition to OpenNotifier, which will always remain open and free, I will be releasing a feature add-on pack for only $2 that integrates right into the OpenNotifier settings. Planned features include left-aligning status bar clock to make more room for icons, Boxcar integration, and more. I may also include new features like repeat notifications in the add-on pack as a beta and move it to the free version once stable enough.

2.Mywi 4.0 On Demand
MyWi is an incredibly popular Cydia app that allows jailbreakers to have a heavily customizable mobile hotspot with their iPhone’s 3G connection. We here at iDB love MyWi, and it’s definitely been a staple of what the jailbreak scene has to offer for quite some time.

Intelliborn, the company behind MyWi, recently added a new feature to the popular hotspot app called “OnDemand.” The purpose of MyWi OnDemand is to create a smarter mobile hotspot on the iPhone.

MyWi OnDemand will study the behavior of the devices connected to your hotspot, and connect or disconnect when you need it to.

3.Multifl0w
Multifl0w 2.1.7-3: In the family of Cydia Tweaks, Multifl0w 2.1.7-3 for iPhone has been released at BigBoss Repo. Multifl0w 2.1.7-3 is an iPhone Tweak which helps you to show all open apps on same screen. So Multifl0w v2.1.7-3 provides quick task switching between apps. Multifl0w 2.1.7-3 has two different modes (i) Cards mode (ii) Expose mode. By using Multifl0w 2.1.7-3, in Cards mode you can see all open apps for easy switching and in Expose mode you can re-arrange tabs.

4.Gridlock
A new Cydia app by the name of Gridlock has been released which enables iPhone and iPod touch users to freely position icons anyway they want on their homescreen. With Gridlock, you no longer need blank icon apps which has these ugly shadows and you have to be careful not to tap on them by mistake. It gives you full freedom arrange your apps any way you like, as can be seen in the screenshots above.

5.SleepFX
SleepFX has been developed in response to overwhelming customer demand for more effects and options. Effects include the famous TV Tube (now with sound), Split Columns, Spin, Fade Tiles, Suck and others. Effects are customisable using options such as effect type, animation speed and sound. No new icons are added to your homescreen. Options are configured from your Settings app.

6.Barrel
Barrel is a new tweak available in Cydia, developed by Aaron Ash which adds a 3D “cube” effect to your iPhone’s springboard. This is a very cool tweak which changes the look of how your home screen icons scroll. Please note that this works for all devices running iOS 4.x + apart from the iPad or those with SBRotator installed.

7.Scrollingboard
ScrollingBoard is a really cool tweak for your iPhone, iPad, or iPod SpringBoard dock. Infinidock has been around for some time now, and gives you the ability to add a scrolling-effect to your dock, but ScrollingBoard is packed with extra features.

8.Masks
This tweak allows the user to choose an overlay icon , any icon, either pre-supplied or custom, and this is applied as a mask to all the SpringBoard icons and , optionally, the wallpaper.

9.Switchermod

SwitcherMod is a new jailbreak application available in Cydia that supposedly improves the iPhone app switcher. I say “supposedly” because I fail to see the usefulness of this applications.

Developed my Ryan Petrich, one of my favorite jailbreak developers, SwitcherMod allows you to drag icons to reorder them. It also allows you to make exited apps transparent and show the “close” button by default…

SwitcherMod is free in Cydia via the http://rpetri.ch/repo repo.

10.Icon Renamer
Icon Renamer, by the renowned Cydia developer Ryan Petrich, is a new Cydia tweak that allows you to rename icons from your iPhone springboard in the simplest way possible. There’s nothing to the actual tweak, it integrates itself into your iPhone springboard.
